Alternates is more or less a back up system. This allows you to add workers that fill in anyone that bails out of a shift. This is a completely automated process that only needs you to set the number of alternates you would like to have.
If you have shift requests adding requests as an alternate is also very simple.
You can add alternates to any shift besides Grid View shifts and Repeating Templates. You can add Alternates to all other individual shifts including the individual shifts created by the Repeating Template.
3 Ways to Move an Alternate
1. Worker bails out
When a worker bails out, Schedulehead will automatically move an alternate for that skillset to fill the gap. So if Chris Bailed out in the picture above, John would replace him.
2. Admin removes a worker with penalty
When you remove a worker with penalty it treats it the same as a bailout. Schedulehead will automatically move an alternate to fill the gap.
3. Manually moving the alternate to a worker
The final method is to use a basic remove on the original worker and the alternate, and then assign the worker that used to be the alternate to the skillset. So in the picture above you would remove both workers and then add John as a worker.
